linda-meccouri-bioLinda Meccouri is an experienced and creative trainer whose background includes over twenty-five years as a Computer Science and Information systems Professor at two-year colleges and a Doctorate in Instructional Technology and Multi-cultural Teacher Education.

Dr. Meccouri has taught at the community college, undergraduate and graduate level, and is the recipient of two Endowed Chairs for Teaching Excellence from two community colleges. For seventeen of those years, she was a Professor of Computer Science and Information Systems at Holyoke Community College, a department she co-chaired for eight years. She is currently a professor at Springfield Technical Community College in Massachusetts.

 

Throughout her career, Dr. Meccouri has participated in numerous curriculum development, gender-equity, and diversity initiatives. Here are highlights of just a few of her many achievements:

    • Five College Women's Studies Research Center Associate. Dr. Meccouri was selected to participate as one of the first group of non-traditional "Community Research Associates" at Mount Holyoke College, joining Ford Fellows and International Research Associates in studying low-income women's persistence and success in higher education against the odds. She presented as part of the "Works in Progress" Series to the Five College academic community.
    • While a Lecturer and Graduate Assistant at the University of New Mexico, Dr. Meccouri designed and developed a Master's degree program "Integrating Technology in the Schools"(ITS) program for educators, a comprehensive degree program that offered a very diverse group of teachers an opportunity to earn their graduate degrees in traditional subject areas while becoming technology leaders in their respective school districts. The program was oversubscribed from its inception and has produced statewide and nationally prominent technology leaders.
    • At Holoyoke Community College, Dr. Meccouri was a member of both the Instructional Technology and Affirmative Action Committees. Throughout her tenure, she designed and facilitated workshops in "Working with Culturally Diverse Groups", "Group Decision-making", and "Problem-Solving in Groups" for "Leadership Holyoke" -- an annual eight week long seminar bringing private and public sector fellows together in preparation for service on local advisory boards and other volunteer endeavors.
    • Human Resource Development and Training for academic, public and private organizations. Dr. Meccouri has designed and conducted training in such topics as Problem-solving, Computer Literacy, Decision Making, Working with Culturally Diverse Groups, Appreciative Inquiry and various diversity/technology topics.

      In addition, Dr. Meccouri has spoken extensively throughout the country at educational conferences, and has frequently been published in educational journals. Select presentations and publications include:

      Dr. Meccouri earned her Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from the University of New Mexico and her Master's in Organizational Development from Antioch University.
