I was one of the first woman Navywide with the particular job that I did in the early 90’s and saw this happening- and still today as well.

SO how about that, more than a year later and you are still getting comments on this!

I’ve referred many people to IWITTS over the years and am hopeful that your resources will begin resonating with those interested in the green economy. Best wishes for continued success. I noted several aha moments in the story; woman in a man’s profession, size discrimination (heighth or weight), and previous careers (OSS to diplomatic corps in the era of McCarthy). I REALLY identified with Julie when the chicken flew all over the floor!

So, we know that X/O stereotypes occur. How do we change our personal perceptions in order to avoid these in our own business careers?

This movie could also be used to teach the professional skills unit in Early Childhood I.

I love seeing lessons like that in an entertaining format. I am not familiar with “The Tale of X and O”. How can I watch it?

You made me think about women who practice the phenomenon of “tokenism”. I have experienced it… new what was going on, just did not know how to deal with it professionally. In education professions, I see it practiced a great deal by women who have reached high ranks, but treat other women who are working towards the same with distain and throw up those road blocks.

Thank you for making your comments so relevent to today. I have wanted to go and see Julie and Julia, now its on my Hot List.

Enjoyed reading your Blog.

Great post. It certainly is difficult to discuss and acknowledge the challenges we have had with tokenism. Keep up the thought provoking and relevant work!
